Adaptive Sports Leagues

All adaptive programs from March 13-April 3 are delayed. Our goal is to rechdeule programs missed. If your program is rescheduled, you will be notified as soon as a make-up date is scheduled. Keep an eye out on your email for the most updated information. Thank you for understanding.

RARA offers sports leagues for peoples with disabilities year-round! We currently offer: basketball, bowling, and softball leagues. For more information, to see which league might be a good fit, or for questions, contact Lyndsey at lyndsey@rararecreation.org

Softball League

This softball league is designed for high functioning persons with developmental disabilities.  The team(s) will begin with practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We transition to practices on Tuesdays and games on Thursdays. RARA's team(s) will play against teams in neighboring communities. This is slow pitch softball rules with low impact/injury balls, tees are available if needed. Players and responsible for their own transportation to practices and games. Players will receive a jersey, hat and a certificate of completion at the end of the season. Practices will start May 5th, depending on field conditions. 

Past player registration is open until March 17. New player registration (if spots remain) will be from March 18-April 20.

Location: Home field is Hampton Elementary School


 

Basketball "East" League

For persons with developmental disabilities.  This is a 9 week league, this is the skill building division. Skill level as determined by RARA staff. Please call Lyndsey Ramsay at 248-601-4041 before registering if you are unsure which division best suits your skills. We will start off with conditioning and instruction to prepare for approximately 6 weeks of league play and 2 weeks of playoffs. Wear gym clothes and shoes. Please bring a water bottle or sports drink.   

Two sessions will be played: September-November and then January-March.

Basketball "West" League

For persons with developmental disabilities.  This is a 9 week league, this is the advanced division based on skill level as determined by RARA staff. Please call Lyndsey Ramsay at 248-601-4041 before registering to make sure you will qualify for this league. We will start off with conditioning and instruction to prepare for at least 6 weeks of league play and a championship game. Wear gym clothes and shoes. Please bring a water bottle or sports drink.

Instructional Basketball

For persons with developmental disabilities. This is a nine week program that will teach basketball skills and promote physical fitness.  Wear gym clothes and shoes. Bring your water bottle.  

Two sessions will be played: September-November and then January-March.

Location: Reuther Middle School

Bowling League

For persons of all ages with special needs.  This is a 13 week long league.  Cost includes includes 2 games, shoes, and a pizza banquet at the end of the season.

Two sessions will be played: September-December and January-April.

Location: Avon North Hill Lanes
