1000 students registered to play in the RARA leagues last year

Two Saturday practices, then an eight game schedule* Each participant receives a team T-shirt and participation award * Game Times:  9:00am to 7:00pm depending on the size of the league and grade.  High School Leagues will not start until 12:30pm in the afternoon at the earliest and may last thru as late as 7:00pm.

We will do our best to have your child play for a team either from the child’s school or from the GENERAL VICINITY of where you live.  If you have a request to play with a classmate, please indicate that at the time of registration.  We try to honor requests whenever possible.  But this is not Guaranteed.  Players from schools with less than a full team may be combined with other players in the same situation.

Registration:   This is not a First Come, First Served Process.  You have two months to sign up.  Below is how the process works.

1. INITIAL REGISTRATION BEGINS on Monday, September 12, 2011.  Everybody who registers before the end of the day on Friday, November 18th , 2011 at 5:00pm will be placed on a team.  It is important to list the proper school that your child attends.
2. Registration is then SUSPENDED TEMPORARILY We take all of those whom have registered up to this point and begin the process of putting our puzzle together, FORMING THE TEAMS. Maximum 10 players per team. 
3. RARA will determine who the coaches are after registration. Several people may ask to coach one team.  RARA has to make the decision as to who the coach will be.  It is not determined before the teams are put together, but AFTER the teams are put together.
4. Monday, December 5th, 2011, Registration RE-OPENS and we then FILL the available spots on     teams that HAVE OPENINGS.

Important Note:  Boys and Girls cannot play in both school basketball programs and recreation leagues at the same time

Less contact than soccer! The LARGEST Flag Football League in the Area!

Do you like fast paced games where everyone is involved?  Do you want to learn about football with some of the best volunteer coaches around without having to wear the pads yet?  

For Boys and Girls in Grades 3, 4, 5 & 6.  Two weeks of practice then an eight week schedule.  This league is based loosely on NFL Flag football and the kind of street football you grew up with as a kid.  Everybody goes out for the pass.  All games are played on a small field.  5 on 5 team play.  Games run no more than an hour.  All kids play.  Size doesn’t always count.  Speed is just as important.  Flags hang from the sides of players and are pulled off for the tackle.

10 Player Limit per team. 5 on 5 team play. Schools with players that cannot fill a team will be combined with other school teams as best as possible.

Location: Halbach and Jaycee Fields near Downtown Rochester
Fee: $80 for Residents $100 for Non-Residents. Includes long sleeve, lightweight sweatshirt, mouth guard, and participation award.

6th ,7th & 8th Grade League

This program is designed to be a fun, yet a semi-competitive recreational league.  The girls learn while playing in a semi-competitive atmosphere.  This is for girls who have never played before and for girls trying to make their middle school teams and are looking for a little more playing time. No standings are kept.  Two weeks of Saturday practices (but teams are not prohibited from practicing during the week, reservations thru RARA) then an EIGHT WEEK schedule of games.  Games and Practices are at Hart Middle School.   

Registration is going on NOW and the Registration Deadline for the end of the INITIAL registration process is Wednesday, September 7th.  Depending on availability, we will open up registration on Tuesday, Sept. 13th.

Teams are formed by school and area.   Parent volunteer coaches needed.  Parents are expected to coach the teams.  We do not hire individuals outside the league to coach.  This is just like all of our other leagues.  A little knowledge of volleyball can go a long way.

Fee: $70 for Residents $90 for Non-Residents. Includes a T-shirt and participation award.

The 2011 Fall season starts the weekend of September 17 and runs through December 18. All leagues have 2 practices, 10 games and play offs. The league fee also includes a team shirt. All youth ages based on grade age as of September 18th 2011. The goalies fee is $79.00, if a team does not have a goalie, then players will rotate time being goalie.

All make-up/re-schedule/holiday games will take place on Sunday morning if your normal day/time is full. Some practices may be sunday morning.

Box lacrosse is an indoor version of lacrosse, and is therefore sometimes known as indoor lacrosse. This type of lacrosse is played primarily in Canada, but it is quickly spreading to the United States. It is known as Box Lacrosse, because of the enclosed space that you play it in.    

In our inaugural season we will offer 3 youth divisions to help teach a solid foundation for traditional league formats next season. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! Season includes 6 games & 5 practices. Depending of facility availability or holidays, there MAY be a practice(s) held on Sunday morning. Go to www.rhssa.com, then to Box Lacrosse section to see necessary equipment and or substitutions.

Rochester Avon Recreation Authority is proud to announce a new recreation program. Youth Kickball will be offered in 4 divisions by grade.  RARA will assign teams for grades 5th-8th grade. Team registrations are allowed for 9th-12th grade divisions. Individuals will be placed on teams.
